Welcome!

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:

My name is Stephanie Stubbs, and I’d like to welcome your children and you to my seventh-grade class. Your children have all completed an unprecedented school year. I hope you all are well and staying safe during this pandemic. I’d like to take this time to assure you that your students’ education will continue as we work to meet their individual and collective learning goals set forth by The Tennessee Department of Education.

Now, I would like to tell you a little about myself: I have been a teacher for 13 years including the last 11 here at East Junior High School. I believe in student-centered approach to learning. That is, I feel it’s important that I get to know every student individually and develop individual educational goals for each that tie into our classroom learning. I also believe that it’s important that we---your child, you the parent, and I---work together as a team to help your children succeed. This year, we will be focusing on district and state seventh-grade learning standards which include:

Reading---Literature: Key Ideas and Details, Craft and Structure, Integration of Knowledge and Ideas

Reading---Informational Text: Key Ideas and Details, Craft and Structure, Integration of Knowledge and Ideas

Reading---Vocabulary:  Craft and Structure, Vocabulary Acquisition and Use

Writing---Written Expression: Text Types and Protocol for each text

Writing---Conventions: Conventions of Standard English and Vocabulary Acquisition and Use

These are only some of the academic areas we will explore and learn this year as a class. I will inform you of any district directives as they are made known to me. Whether its back-to-school greet or parent/teacher conferences, rest assure I’ll inform you of the dates and details. Please don’t limit your contact to those items. I am happy to talk or meet with parents any time after school or a “scheduled” meeting during my planning.

I have attached a copy of my class syllabus which contains my classroom behavior plan, homework policy (I assign homework occasionally during the week except for Fridays), and “personal” classroom supply list.

Also, please feel free to call or email me with any questions, thoughts, and even concerns.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Stubbs
