“Education is Our Priority”

Dear Parent(s) or Guardian(s),

We all look forward to the many wonderful experiences ahead.  Response to Instruction and Intervention for Behavior (RTI2-B) was established to address the behavioral and discipline needs for successful learning and social development of students. The school-wide system includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments.

As part of the RTI2-B program, we will establish several clear rules for the behavior we expect in all areas of our school. We will explicitly teach those expectations to the students and reward them frequently for their great behavior. The expectations for all student behavior will be clear throughout our building (i.e.: cafeteria, gymnasium, and classrooms. You will be able to ask your child, “What are the rules in your school?” “How do you follow those rules?” “What happens when a teacher sees you following the rules or not following the rules?”

A system of acknowledgements will help motivate students to try their best and to encourage others as well.  One important piece of RTI2-B is to create a set of 3-5 school rules that are well known to all affiliated with our school.  The RTI2-B team created an acronym, PACK, to help disseminate those rules.  Our motto reads…

Prepared

Accountable

Cooperative

Kind

Recognition will be noted through the acknowledgement system for students who exhibit PACK characteristics at our school. The acknowledgement system recognizes positive behavior in the cafeteria, hallway, classroom, library, gym, and buses.  Displays of good character help students to earn “Bulldog Bucks” so they can receive incentives. There will be an incentive store located upon the campus of East Jr. High.  Students will be allowed an opportunity to purchase items from the store using their "Bulldog Bucks."

We believe that by helping students practice good behavior, we will build a school community where all students have an environment where they can learn, grow and succeed.
